data are lacking. The published series treated with hyper-CVAD rituximab appear to relate to a heterogeneous group of patients of which only one-third had a MYC rearrangement.5 Using the current edition of the WHO classification, it is likely that most of the cases in the Manchester series would be placed in the category “B-cell lymphoma, unclassifiable, with features intermediate between diffuse large B-cell and Burkitt Lymphoma” rather than “Burkitt Lymphoma.”6 The justification for this new category is the recognition that these tumors are frequently refractory to chemotherapy and have short survival. As the data from LY10 shows, the accurate distinction between this group and Burkitt lymphoma is clearly important given the sharply contrasting responses to chemotherapy. The techniques used to make this distinction are likely to improve with the introduction of gene expression profiling and whole genome genotyping based on SNP arrays and array CGH. However, the key question will remain how to manage patients who are identified at presentation as having disease that is likely to be refractory to chemotherapy.

FoxP3+ Regulatory T Cells in Peripheral Blood of Patients with Epithelial Ovarian Cancer
Background: Ovarian cancer is the fifth leading cause of death from malignancy in women. CD4 +CD25+FoxP3+ regulatory T (Treg) cells are a subset of T lymphocytes with great inhibitory impact on immune response. Objectives: To investigate the percentage of CD4 +CD25+FoxP3+ regulatory T cells in the peripheral blood of the Iranian patients with epithelial ovarian cancer compared to healthy women ...
متن کاملP-154: Comparison between The Effect of 17-Bestradiol at Preovulatory and Pregnancy Levels for In Vitro Generation of Regulatory T Cells
Background: Naturally occurring CD4+CD25+ regulatory T cells (Treg) exert an important role in mediating maternal tolerance to the fetus during pregnancy. During pregnancy the elevated number of regulatory T cells (Tregs) correlates with 17-b oestradiol (E2) level. The role of maternal hormones in successful pregnancy is well known. Maternal hormones through re-engineering of the maternal immun...
متن کاملExpansion of CD4+CD25+FoxP3+ Regulatory T Cells in Chronic Hepatitis C Virus Infection
Background: Regulatory T cells (Tregs) have been involved in impaired immunity and may have a pivotal role in persistence of viral infections. Objective: To develop a simple and reliable in-house three color flow cytometery of peripheral blood to understand the role of HCV infection in the increase of Tregs. Methods: The level of naturally occurring CD4+CD25+FoxP3+ regulatory T cells (nTregs) i...

BACKGROUND: The early stage of Copper poisoning is difficult to be clinically diagnosed in sheep and has not been documented clearly yet. OBJECTIVES: To assess biomarkers in predicting early Copper poisoning in sheep, blood samples were collected from several groups of animals from a naturally Copper poisoning occurrence in an industrial region. METHODS: Animals were divided into four experimen...
متن کاملIntracellular GSH Alterations and Its Relationship to Level of Resistance following Exposure to Cisplatin in Cancer Cells
One of the major complications in cancer chemotherapy is the development of resistance, and cisplatin, as one of the important medicines in treatment regimens of different cancers is not excluded. One of the most described cellular defense mechanisms involved in resistance is glutathione (GSH) and in this study, the effects of cisplatin on the total intracellular GSH level (GSHi) in some sensit...
